KACY’S Crew – Kids Aiding Children & Youth Survivors- is a non-profit organization started by St. Mary of the Assumption School (Upper Marlboro, MD) student Kacy Craig. Kacy’s father works in disaster recovery and Kacy has seen firsthand the devastation wrought by natural disasters. After Hurricane Sandy, Kacy took all of her Halloween candy, divided it up into over 200 goody bags and headed to Staten Island shelters with blankets and toys for children who had to leave their homes and miss trick or treating due to the impact of the storm. Kacy was inspired to create an organization that provides kids with a way to help their fellow kids by having fundraisers at school. Kacy’s idea is to empower kids who want to help and encourage charity. When the tornadoes hit Oklahoma, Kacy immediately started planning a fundraiser. Disasters such as the Oklahoma tornados that devastated a school have an obvious impact on kids seeing the shocking images in the media. KACY’S Crew provides an opportunity for children to awaken their altruistic spirit and provide a connection to children survivors. We love these kids, Kacy and Robbie Craig. St. Marys is very lucky to have students like these that have such caring hearts and we are proud that they are students of St. Mary of the Assumption School.
